About the Journal
The Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council’s new vision is to re-engineer and reposition the Council so as to build and sustain a culture of educational research and development that will inform the formulation and effctive implementation of policies in education as well as in other related sector of economy in consonance with global best practices using digital innovations.
The Council hopes to achieve this by creating the enambling environment in which educational research and development will thrives and kin the processes not only encourage collaboration with international development partners but also foster public/private partnerships in a bid to render educational research and development efforts sustainable and needs driven.
To achieve this, the Council has launched a renewed academic journal known as the Journal of Research and Educational Development (JORED). This is based on the conviction that the Journal should be concerned with practical issues in Education in Nigeria; that the contributors to the journal would bring new insights and suggestions for improving practices at various levels, either as a result of their experiences or current research and that the journal will promote the dissemination of practical and utilizable innovative practice to centres, institutions and individuals within and outside this country for replication as appropriate.
Objectives of the Journal
Our aim in launching the journal is not just to have and institutional journal but to essentially meet the need of widening public participation in national discourse and planning so that all hands will be on deck to assist the Federal, State and Local Governments on the implementation and execution of policies and issues in the education sector.
The journal also aims at:
- Tapping the human and material resources in our society for creating awareness under which regular programme reviews, project anlysis and accountability will be evaluated;
- Encouraging the involvement of knowledge location and management in solving local problems by accepting written opinions from all classes of people for review and editing;
- Encouraging reserach articles that will inform policy formulation and educational development;
- Emphasizing the need for writing and exploring our immediate environment and issues on an international scale;
- Suggesting and disseminating innovative ideas for the promotion of educational development.
- It is to be added that the opinion and views expressed in this journal are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the positions of the Editors, Management and Governing Borad of Nigerian Educationl Research and Development Council (NERDC).
